WEEK 23 - Redv4me holds slender lead at the top of a wide open Tipping Championship Table

Hi everyone!

The updates are a little few and far between these days but I trust everyone is enjoying both the battle for the NRL Premiership and this year's Tipping Championship title.

The last time I gave an update, the Panthers, Seaeagles and Bulldogs were tied on top of the NRL Ladder, while defending champion Scotsta was continuing to head the top of the Tipping Championship table.

6 weeks later, as expected, a little bit has changed.

In the NRL, the Sea Eagles top the ladder and are currently on course to win their first minor premiership since the ARL 1997 season which was in the midst of the Australian Super League war. Not far behind them are both the Rabbitohs, who have really found the mojo as of late and a determined Panthers side who continue to surprise the critics this season.
The Top 8 is looking a little more clear cut now that the Tigers & Titans have fallen away from recent weeks.
With 6 teams playing out for 4 spots, it's going to make one hell of a final 3 weeks of footy.
The Storm & Cowboys are looking nearly odds on qualifying for September, so now it's up to the Dogs, Eels, Warriors, Broncos & Dragons to decide their own fate from here. Enjoy!

In our tipping competition, Redv4me is holding a 2 point lead over Scotsta after over taking the defending champ in Round 21. With Jokers still to come into play, the tippping championship race looks wide open with 3 weeks of round robin football and 9 finals games remaining. Good luck to everyone still in the running!

Round 23 dished up some predictable results but also a couple of upsets.

It started on Thursday night Greg Inglis put on a masterclass to lead South Sydney to a 42-16 win over Brisbane at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night, reaffirming the Rabbitohs' premiership favouritism.
Inglis scored three tries as Souths temporarily jumped to the top of the NRL ladder and all but extinguished the Broncos' top-eight hopes in front of a crowd of 14,092.

On Friday, a match will sparked hiuge controversy after an incident involving a ball boy overshadowed the Dogs 18-16 tussle with finals contenters Parramatta while on Saturday the Dragons, Storm and Roosters all had big wins against the struggling Raiders, Sharks & Tigers respectively.

On Sunday, Knights rookie Sione Mata'utia scored the first hat-trick of his burgeoning NRL career to help Newcastle hold off a fast-finishing New Zealand Warriors and win 28-22 at Hunter Stadium.
A late inclusion on the wing after Akuila Uate was ruled out with a knee injury, the highly touted 18-year-old showed off his finishing as the Knights claimed their sixth win from their last eight games.
In the other Sunday game, Competition leaders Manly edged past the Titans 15-12 on the Gold Coast.

Lastly on Monday night, a Matt Moylan field goal with 90 seconds remaining has handed Penrith a vital 23-22 win over North Queensland.

Moylan calmly slotted the match-winner on Monday night in the same manner he had done so earlier this season against Brisbane in round 18, after Jamie Soward had starred for the home side.

Soward scored two first half tries, had a hand in both of the Panthers' other four pointers and dished off to Moylan for the match-winner.

The win moves the Panthers up to third spot on the NRL ladder, while the Cowboys slipped to seventh in windy and rainy conditions before a crowd of 7,276.

Redv4me (144) continues to lead the competition by 2 points from defending champion Scotsta (142) while Richard McCourt (141), Simply the Bears (140), Steve Rootsey (139) and cmcnls+1day (139) are all very close behind inside the Top 6.
With Jokers still up peoples sleeves, this Tipping Championship race is FAR from over so expect a few twists and turns yet.
