WEEK 09 - THE STORM & SAVA4 OPEN GAPS AT TOP OF THEIR RESPECTIVE TABLES

Hi everyone!

Welcome to this Week 09 Tipping blog update edition!

The Melbourne Storm have opened a four point gap at the top of the NRL Table with a very convincing 44-10 win over a hapless Pantehrs side at Centrebet Stadium.
The Panthers lead the match 10-6 before the flood gates opened from the 24 minute when Cooper Cronk went over to score the first of seven unanswered tries.
The Storm have now won 9 on the trot which sets them up very nicely for the State of Origin period (which they will take a heavy toll from) coming up in a few weeks time.

In other results, the Rabbitohs ended the Sharks six game wiining streak with an impressive 34-28 win at ANZ Stadium on Monday night with Rabbitohs fullback Greg Inglis scoring a hat-trick of tries. The Cowboys trounced the Dragons 30-6 at Townsville in a spiteful match, while last Saturday, the Warriors showed why can't be counted out as premiership heavy weights with a solid 30-20 win over the Brisbane Broncos. The Wests Tigers also got out of jail again with another unimpressive display winning 15-14 over the Titans in golden point, thanks to a Robbie Farah field goal.

In our tipping competition, like the Melbourne Storm, leader sava4 (61) has opened a three point at the top of the Tipping Championship Ladder.
cmcnls+1day scored an All Correct to join 2nd equal spot (58) with The Neighbour.
Brenda Kirkman's All Correct also lifted her up to 4th spot (56) while Feet Little and BEARlythere sit 5th equal on 53.
7th placed Vee8head (52) also collected an All Correct to lift him into the top 8 for the first time this season, one point ahead of ootz (51).
At the bottom of the ladder, Scott Nielson and blo1 occupy last spot on 36 points.

Keep getting those tips in!

REMINDER!!

And there is only 7 matches (with two teams having a bye) so a great opportunity to get some much needed points! GOOD LUCK!!

Vee8Head
& cmcnls+1day tied with 12 points and a margin of 24. Fantastic tipping!

Here's what's happened in Week Nine!

WARRIORS OUTCLASS HIGH FLYING BRONCOS

The Warriors fended off a first-half comeback from Brisbane to win 30-20 in a topsy-turvy clash in Auckland last Saturday night.

The home side raced out to an early lead in front of a parochial crowd at Mount Smart Stadium but were soon pegged back by tries to Broncos duo Jack Reed and Alex Glenn.

But the loss of playmaker Peter Wallace to a groin injury late in the first half swung the momentum away from the Broncos.

Returning Warriors forward Jacob Lillyman praised his team's performance after making his first appearance of the season off the bench.

"We know that if we get an even share of the ball and run hard and do what we do well that we usually come away with a win," Lillyman said.

"It was just a good effort from the boys."

Brisbane winger Gerard Beale had already dropped a Shaun Johnson kick and allowed the Warriors half-back to regather and score by the time Wallace limped from the field.

And the Warriors repeated the feat soon after when Manu Vatuvei tapped back another Johnson high ball for Elijah Taylor to touch down.

A comfortable lead was stretched further when Lillyman came off the bench to crash over and add to Brisbane's half-time woes.

Broncos front rower Petero Civoniceva admitted the tough first half took its toll after the break.

"I think having to try and play catch-up footy and when you're trying to force the ball against a committed defence, unfortunately you come up with a few errors," Civoniceva said.

"But full credit to the Warriors they were great tonight."

Lillyman's try came off the back of several debatable refereeing decisions and the trend continued in the second half.

Three minutes after the restart Reed was denied an almost carbon-copy of his first try when the video referee referred a decision back to referee Jason Robinson.

His 'no-try' decision left the Broncos fuming and although Rabbitohs-bound Ben Te'o stretched over soon after, much of the sting had been taken out of the Broncos attack.

Feleti Mateo and Sam Thaiday rounded out a bruising encounter with late tries as last season's beaten grand finalists the Warriors won for just the fourth time this year.

Civoniceva refused to blame his team's defeat on the early departure of half-back Wallace.

"I'm not too sure ... the extent of his injury," Civoniceva said.

"It's unfortunate obviously, he's an important link to our team.

"But you can't make any excuses."

Warriors: 30 (B Henry, S Johnson, E Taylor, J Lillyman, F Mateo tries; J Maloney 5/5 cons, 0/1 pen) Broncos: 20 (J Reed, A Glenn, B Te'o tries, S Thaiday; C Parker 2/4 cons)
