WEEK 02 - STORM & SEAEAGLES OFF TO SOLID START

Hi everyone!

The 2013 season is two weeks young and already we are starting to see familiar proceedings to previous seasons past.

Suuuuper Billy!
The defending champion Melbourne Storm have defied the odds so far this season. They have played in bitterly cold conditions half way around the world to win the World Club Challenge v Leeds, then traveled back to Melbourne for their opening match v Dragons in 34 degree heats and then last weekend headed up to tropical North Queensland for their 2nd round clash v Cowboys.
And from all of that they have come out the other end with 3 big green ticks and lead the top of the NRL ladder with a 42 point differential in the process.
Coach Craig Bellamy has also warned his team are "not yet firing on all cylinders."
Scary thought for the other 15 teams really....

Not far behind them, the 2011 premiers Manly Seaeagles, have started their season coming from behind to ease past the Broncos in Brisbane and then thrashing the highly fancied Newcastle Knights, coming of a big first week win themselves, 32-0 at Brookvale Oval.

In other results, the Brisbane BroncosSydney Roosters, Wests Tigers and Gold Coast Titans all got their 2013 seasons underway with wins over the St.George Illawarra DragonsNZ Warriors, Penrith Panthers and Canberra Raiders respectively, while on Monday Night Football, South Sydney remained unbeaten, hanging on 14-12 against a gritty Cronulla Sharks at ANZ Stadium.

Scotsta and Anu have taken early leads after making big plays last weekend.
Using their Jokers, both tipsters collect All Correct Scores of 20 points (8 tips doubled + 4 bonus points) to jump into 1st and 2nd place respectively.
Like Scotsta, 1YEARWONDERBARBA also played his Joker round for a 2nd week in a round to go into 3rd place.
Rocketane, Bronco2020 and TWiL Nate also picked up All Corrects placing them well into the Top 10 so far.

Scotsta with a Joker ALL CORRECT score of 20 points and a margin of 0. The Perfect Score!

Here's what's happened in Week Two

GRAND FINALISTS GRIND OUT WIN v EELS

The Bulldogs held on for a 20-16 win over Parramatta at Sydney's ANZ stadium on Thursday night.

After a lightning first half that saw seven tries, the second 40 minutes went scoreless.

The Bulldogs brushed away concerns they couldn't fire without a host of key players, as the Eels bubble burst just one week after their opening round mauling of the Warriors.

The Bulldogs were made to fight for their first two points of the year, with the Eels camping themselves on the Bulldogs line over the closing quarter of the match.

But despite numerous chances, the Eels just couldn't get across the line.

Their unfulfilled efforts were summed up by Jarryd Hayne's shocking forward pass to an open Cheyse Blair with 13 minutes to go.

Bulldogs Winger Josh Morris told the media his team made it hard for themselves in the second half with too many turnovers.

He said Bulldogs coach Des Hasler would "get a rocket" up them throughout the week for their poor discipline.

"That second half was pretty poor. We didn't complete and we kept turning over the ball and when you have to make that many tackles and chase your tail you get pretty tired," he said.

"Our completion rate wasn't very good ... simple execution let us down."

Eels coach Ricky Stuart's pre-match assertion that his side would do well to stay within three tries of the Bulldogs looked in danger when Canterbury scored two tries - both on the back of penalties - within the first eight minutes.

Parramatta recovered with two tries of their own in the space of four minutes.

Halfback Chris Sandow was the creator on both occasions via a kick for Matt Ryan and then a long pass for Blair's first of the night.

The see-saw headed the other way as the Dogs' Josh Reynolds did brilliantly to bamboozle Jarryd Hayne - who had a disappointing night - in an 80 metre run to the line, but Blair's second just before the break ensured the Eels stayed in touch.

Canterbury Bulldogs: 20 (J Jackson, M Brown, J Reynolds, S Perrett; K Inu 2 con)
Parramatta Eels: 16 (M Ryan, C Blair 2; C Sandow 2 con)
