WEEK 15 - IT WOULDN'T BE A JOKER ROUND WITHOUT A FEW UPSETS....

Hi everyone!

Welcome to this Week 15 Tipping blog update edition!

Another Joker Round has finished with some upsets to boot.
The upsets started on Saturday, when the Sharks, without their inspirational leader Paul Gallen, over came the favourites, the NZ Warriors, at Shark Park in atrocious weather on Saturday, winning 20-19 after being 19-8 down at one point.
On Sunday some of the Tigers key players were overcome with emotion after hearing news, just over an hour before kickoff, that Captain Robbie Farah's mother had passed away from pancreatic cancer. The Roosters played some scintillating football to upset the Tigers infront of their home faithful 42-28 to break the Tigers seven match winning streak but also snap a four match losing streak of their own.
And finally on Monday, the league leaders Melbourne Storm overcame the odds without star fullback Billy Slater and facing a hostile Brookvale Oval crowd to stun the premiers, Manly, by 26-22 to stretch their lead to 3 wins at the top of the table.

In our tipping competition sava4 (92) has taken advantage of a Joker round to jump ahead by 2 points over and cmcnls+1day (90) at the top of the Tipping Championship table.
Wilshere Wonderland and Vee8Head (both 87) still remain in 3rd equal spot but have managed to cut the lead down to 3 points from the top two tippers.
The Neighbour (86) sits on his own in 5th place while Steven Marshall & Kiwi Misty (both 85) share 6th spot. Feet Little, Brenda Kirkman, ootz & Wayne (all 84) are 8th equal.
At the bottom of the ladder, Tiger77 (52) remains in last spot.

Keep getting those tips in!

Jared Francois with a score of 12 points and a margin of 2. Impressive tipping for a Joker Round!

Here's what's happened in Week Fifteen!

SHARKS REEL IN WARRIORS

A try-scoring double to half-back Jeff Robson in the final 10 minutes helped Cronulla to a gripping 20-19 victory over the Warriors in atrocious conditions on Saturday night.

A crowd of 9,271 - including one group who watched the game from a tent on the hill - braved the miserable conditions at Shark Park to watch a contest between two sides adept at wet weather football.

And despite being without skipper Paul Gallen, as well as Andrew Fifita and Wade Graham, it was the Sharks who raced home on the back of Robson's brace.

"The Warriors were pretty good tonight," Robson told Grandstand.

"They kicked well, they rolled us through the middle a bit and [we were] lucky enough to hang on in the end.

"We knew if we completed our sets and went with them the result might turn out our way and lucky enough it did."

The former Parramatta and Manly half slid over for the first of his two tries when backing up a Jeremy Smith break with 11 minutes to play, and barged over for the match-winner just three minutes later.

His second try came on the back of an outstanding 40-20 kick from five-eighth Todd Carney, and was followed by Carney's match-winning conversion.

"Toddy's been great all year, [he] came up with that big play and we scored off the back of it, so it was probably one of the match-winners," Robson said.

"Everyone's got a lot of belief in this team that we've got and if we keep doing the little things right every week then hopefully we'll end up there at the end of the year."

The Sharks needed to defend until the final whistle, with Warrior Shaun Johnson going perilously close to sneaking over with two minutes left as Cronulla held firm.

Earlier, Konrad Hurrell had extended the Warriors' 13-8 half-time advantage when he barged past two Cronulla defenders to score out wide in the 51st minute, while a penalty goal to James Maloney five minutes later pushed the lead out to 11.

The Warriors enjoyed the better of the first half, with a Johnson try six minutes from the break capped off by a James Maloney field goal.

While Johnson capitalised on a cross-field kick from Maloney to dot down, it was the five-minute defensive effort they weathered from the 22nd minute, in which Carney earned three repeat sets for the Sharks with perfect wet weather tactics.

The pressure was only relieved when Maloney's third drop-out was allowed to bounce into touch by Colin Best, a moment which changed the momentum of the first half.

The Sharks had opened the scoring in the fifth minute when Warriors rookie Omar Slaimankhel, a late replacement for injured winger Manu Vatuvei (knee), made the worst possible start to his first grade career.

The 20-year-old dropped the ball on a kick-return in a solid tackle by Isaac Gordon, with Ben Pomeroy crashing through three defenders to score one tackle later.

It did not take long for the Warriors to hit back, Johnson putting in a delightful grubber which full-back Kevin Locke brilliantly grounded.

The visitors suffered a blow 15 minutes after half-time when Micheal Luck, playing his first game for 2012 having recovered from a shoulder injury, limped off with a leg complaint.

Pomeroy was placed on report late in the first half for collecting Ben Henry in the head with his elbow while making a tackle.

Sharks: 20 (J Robson 2, B Pomeroy tries; T Carney 3/3 conversions, 1/1 penalty goals)
Warriors: 19 (K Locke, S Johnson, K Hurrell tries; J Maloney 2/3 conversions, 1/1 penalty goals, 1/1 field goals)

14 points behind on the scoreboard, the Wests Tigers play a bit of hot potato to score a fantastic try through Chris Lawrence to set up an exciting finish at Leichhardt Oval on Sunday.
