It's finally been decided that Oztips will be no longer and we'll be moving on to footytips.com.au for all future NRL Tipping competitions!
Oztips has been the tipping host of this great competition since 2004, but unfortunately Yahoo decided to step in and revamp their tipping site, and since mid-last season it's been a nightmare to work with as it went through iteration after iteration.
So here we are, footytips.com.au! The beginning of a new era in NRL Tipping!
I've had the pleasure in using this site for my EPL tipping competition and overall, everyone seems pretty happy.
So, how do I sign up and join you ask?
1) Simple...go to http://www.footytips.com.au/
2) Enter the password tigers2012
3) Sign up if you haven't already or use exiting footytips login to join.
4) You're in!
Some things to know about footytips:
1) If you plan on tipping only NRL matches and no other sports, make sure this is represented in your preferences. Once logged in, go profile (at the top) and sports settings, and have NRL ticked only. That way you won't get annoying reminders of other sports you aren't interested in.
2) When you log in, make sure you go to 'choose competition' to see all the latest placings and scores in this comp. By default you will be in footytips 'overall' NRL comp (all users ranking).
2) What the hell are margins, you ask. Tippers are required to enter a winning team plus a margin for one game each round (the number of points team A will beat team B by).
Round (Adjusted Margin)
If you tip the winning Team and their exact winning margin, your 'Round Margin' will equal 0 points/goals (like golf, lower is better).
If you pick the winning team, but not the winning margin, your 'Round Margin' will equal the difference between the actual game margin and the margin you tipped.
If you tip the losing Team, your 'Round Margin' will equal the points/goals difference of the actual game margin PLUS the margin you tipped.
Total (Accumulative Margin)
The 'Total Margin' is the total to date of the Weekly Margins for all rounds in the tipping competition. As with 'Your Margin' the lower your 'Accumulative Margin' is the better ranking you will have.
NOTE: This will help us greatly in seperating ties...so we may no longer have shared prizes (unless points & margins are the same come season end!)
3) There is a comp wall to leave messages. Banter is fun but please refrain from abusive language etc.
PRIZES
There will again be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
I will also introduce the Bonus Pools competition.
No Bonus knock out competition though. This was an Oztips only feature.
Total prize money and prizes will be announced a day before kickoff.
